Secret Digital Travel
Monday October 11th, 2010
UK-based photographer Julian Love has just gone public about a secret mission.
Back in July, Julian announced on his blog that he had taken a week-long trip to Istanbul; accompanying him was co-conspirator Richard Hadley of Ballistic. What were they working on in Turkey from 5AM to 10PM each day? No answer was forthcoming from Julian. This project was to remain a secret.
At least, until this month. Julian has just posted the results of his trip, and they are worth a look. The mystery, of course, was right under our noses, in the form of the new Canon 60D digital camera.

With these cameras, Julian produced some impressive and iconic images of the city of Istanbul, while Richard put together a promotional video. Julian describes the unusual circumstances:
Using pre-production cameras in a public environment is not without its risks. Although we were taking precautions and they were covered up with black tape, on a couple of occasions we were approached by people asking what cameras we were using. We simply told them it was a secret and moved on.
I am particularly taken with the image of a carpet store.
