Larsen & Talbert Meet Jillian Michaels

Los Angeles photography team Larsen & Talbert is still reeling with excitement. Their shoot with Jillian Michaels has landed on the cover of SELF Magazine—the first time they’ve had a cover on a major Conde Nast magazine, a company that usually uses contract cover shooters. “It’s kind of a big milestone in our career,” Michael Larsen told me.
Larsen and Talbert have been shooting for SELF for 10 years. Last year they shot Michaels for a fitness layout, which was so well-received that SELF decided to pull them back in for a cover. The shoot was two days long, one day on location at a home in Malibu, and one day in studio. The on-location shots put them right in the middle of record-high heat in LA, a situation highly hazardous for makeup. “We had to dash outside, get the shot and retreat back into the air conditioning,” Michael said.
