Fuel

Tuesday January 17th, 2012

Robby Klein has been working with Fuel Clothing for three years now. He first started shooting with them after some successful self promotion caught the eye of the Fuel creative team. His most recent project for Fuel then caught my eye (and didn’t let go), so of course, I had to share.

With some new products ready to hit stores, Fuel contacted Robby to set up a shoot. After three years of creating great photography for the brand, Robby has gained the full trust of the Fuel team. This allows him to have a lot of creative freedom with their assignments. For the latest shoot, Robby, “was able to really take full control of the project creatively.”

The model Robby decided on was Keegan Matthew McGuire, who Robby had been corresponding with through Facebook the weeks prior the shoot. When it came time to pick a model, Robby knew Keegan was the right man for the job—the perfect Fuel representative. “It just hit me that there would be no one better for this project.”

When it came time for the shoot, Robby and his assistants put together the following set up: black seamless, 4 strobes, 2 strip bands (one with grid), a beauty dish and an octobank. While Robby was shooting, he had an assistant running a fog machine and another creating wind.

What made the shoot more interesting, and the photos arguably more successful, was the fact that they also had a DJ on set—Dj_Wave—playing great music and initiating several dance parties during the shoot.

The day went smoothly and, according to Robby, was “a great reminder that when you start a project with vision and pay attention to details, great things can happen.”

The client was very excited and satisfied with the final images,

Fuel is a globally known company so these image will be seen everywhere. In the years past, my images have turned into catalogues, posters, banners, web ads and just about anything else you can think of.

Be sure to keep  your eyes peeled for Robby’s Fuel images. You can also check out more of his work on his site, www.robbyklein.com.
