Print Mailer: Awesome. Totally Awesome
Saturday February 4th, 2012
For January, we decided to forgo the typical wintery imagery for our print mailer and go for something a little bit, well, warmer. We scoured our photographer’s portfolios for the most totally awesome photo we could fine. Finally, we landed a photo by our Boston-based photographer, David Foster that we all unanimously agreed on. So, after Peter added some Wonderful Machine glamor and our totally awesome copy, we sent it over to Modern Postcard for printing. Fresh off the press, the promos went out to 2,959 creatives—reminding them just how rad we really are.
When asked about the image, David had this to say,
The idea for the shoot came about from one of my assistants who surfed, and he told me about a friend of his that had a “rad van” that they traveled in. It was a self-assigned shoot, the idea being to capture the start or finish of a day of surfing. We really just let them do their thing, getting ready and taking the boards in and out of the van. It was my assistant Phil Fox, who saw the parking lot and puddles and mentioned to me that it might make for a good setup. We walked over, I saw the light, and then moved the van to that location to shoot what I saw.
