Last fall, then Denver-based photographer Steve Temple came to me looking for feedback on his website and promotional materials. Steve was about to move out west—to Portland, Oregon—and wanted a solid new look for his business. After reviewing his work, I recommended he join Wonderful Machine to start (which he did). That’s where I came in. Kathryn wanted a new brand and felt that doing an email promo using the new look would be a great start. I was excited to help her create something eye-catching that a lot of potential clients would really enjoy receiving in their inboxes.

Honolulu-based photographer Marco Garcia decided it was time for a change. He needed some help with a new look for himself. When we asked Marco what he wanted in a visual identity, he envisioned something clean, simple and modern—a big jump from his previous look. We thought that a color scheme that wasn’t too showy or overwhelming would work best, and we would try to avoid anything tropical that made you think “Hawaii”—that way we could avoid typecasting Marco as an island photographer. The goal was for Marco’s new look to be fun but at the same time professional, and therefore visually appealing to a wider range of clients. We worked closely with him to create a brand new identity; logo, website, business cards and email promos.

Richmond-based photographer, Roberto Westbrook came to me recently looking for some creative feedback on some print promo concepts he had. I mocked up a few things based on what he sent over. He must have been happy with my ideas, because a few days later he asked me to design the whole thing.
