Had one of our favorite names for a blog: Hey?! That’s My Cab, which he recently turned
into a book to help artists facing self-doubt in their creative and personal development.
RUNVANRUN, another evocative title, is his new blog filled with thoughts and tearsheets.

Michael Hall / Australia
Conceptual / Landscape / Kids / Travel / Portraiture

|
|
Grew up in the northern reaches of New Zealand. Aside from "normal" commercial work, Michael
enjoys confronting the issues of the day through personal projects. Example: his ongoing series
of landscapes. See "Climate Change" for an idea of what our man in Sydney has on his mind.

Jared McMillen / Las Vegas
Conceptual / Automotive / Sports & Fitness / Action & Adventure

|
|
Raised on fruit roll ups, Scooby Doo, and good old midwestern values. Spent early years fishing,
hunting and water skiing on Lake Lida in Minnesota. Was a professionally-sponsored rock
climber, which allows him to shoot in locations that many photographers cannot.

Ryan Nicholson / Kansas City
Fashion / Lifestyle / Kids / Portraiture / Music / Sports & Fitness
www.ryan-nicholson.com
|
|
With a father and older brother who were commercial photographers, Ryan probably received
more support for his passion than the average artist. He says that he "literally grew up over a
darkroom." Rebelled by playing college basketball, but couldn’t keep away from his love of light.

Daniel Wood / Canada
Conceptual / Portraiture / Music / Corporate

|
From Daniel’s website bio: "As a boy, a camera fell out of the sky and landed on my head.
When I came to, it was permanently attached to my face. I thought I should probably roll with it."
We’re glad he did. Whimsical nature also comes across in blog posts: see him playing in traffic.

Thomas Barwick / Seattle
Lifestyle / Action & Adventure / Sports & Fitness / Food & Drink

|
|
Seattle-born. Lives across the street from where he grew up (his dad still lives there).
Enjoys that his kids can see their grandfather any time. With the kids and his photography,
he doesn’t have much time for hobbies. And that’s just fine.

Stephen Webster / Cincinnati
Conceptual / Corporate / Still Life
www.hideoutinc.com
|
|
His work was once described in a PDN article as "a head on collision between René Magritte,
a View Master and The Brady Bunch." Look at his memorable photo illustrations to see why.
Most photographers have a portfolio to share: Stephen also has an "Unportfolio". See it here.

John Spaulding / Washington DC
Food & Drink / Home & Garden / Institutional / Kids
www.johnspauldingphotography.com
|
|
Usable factoid: has better understanding of client needs because he once was one! Worked for
years as photo editor and art buyer, so he especially appreciates the need to stay under
budget. Plus, he’s never missed a deadline. Work just appeared in this tasty looking cookbook.

Ray Demski / France
Action & Adventure / Sports & Fitness / Youth Culture / Portraiture
www.raydemski.com
|
|
He’s someone who likes to move. Spent five years sailing around the world. Ray’s love for action
photography began after shooting several world champion breakdance competitions. Always
working with dancers and athletes. Probably why MTV and Red Bull like to collaborate with him.

Frank Rogozienski / San Diego
Industrial / Corporate / Institutional / Kids / Reportage
www.frankrogozienski.com
|
|
Just wrapped up his 366 | 08" project, shooting and exhibiting a different photo each day for an
entire (leap) year. Very interested in photographing blue collar workers, especially in relation to
the fields of green and renewable energy. 2009 PDN Photo Annual winner. See his blog for more.

Nathan Garcia / Detroit
Still Life / Conceptual / Fashion / Landscape

|
|
Born in Manila. Moved to Ann Arbor when he was 12. Married to great woman from Poland. Has
two cats, one of whom ("EB", short for "Eight Ball") is 23 lbs.! Loves to eat and cook spicy foods.
Recommends the Philippines for your next vacation, especially the white sand beaches.

Max S. Gerber / Los Angeles
Portraiture / Celebrity / Music / Kids / Institutional / Corporate
www.msgphoto.com
|
|
Interviewed by Charlie Rose about his book on children living with heart disease. Likes hot
chocolate, even though he lives in 80-degree weather. Also appealing: Lyle Lovett songs,
panoramic cameras, and games that appeal to 14 yr. old nerds. He’s good with deadlines.
